Should we have a theocracy or an official religion for the state? What might be the result of having a theocratic state?

This question can be a conflicting subject leading many to heavy debates. The Unites States is like a secular state and are use to having their liberal freedom of choosing what religion they want to be or it will be a violation of the constitution or mostly the first amendment. So a portion of the U.S. will either accept this law, but others might just reject it and start to rebel against the government. Some don’t want to adjust to another religion when they already have their own and are comfortable with their beliefs and faith. Others just don’t want a religion because their atheist and believe in the more scientific way of how everything was brought out to be by natural causes or other theories. As you can see forming an official religion for the state can cause many problems. The Muslimism who have an Islamic nation most of them were born into this religion and it has become their way of life. Also Judaism has become official religions in other nations. Most immigrants come to the United States and westernize a lot but their religion is one of the things that stays with them and that’s what set aside America from all the other countries or nations that we accept you and can culturally diffuse and if you try to change that by try to change their religion how will this make the U.S. looks.

Theocracy is a form of government where god is like the supreme ruler of everything. The religious leader plays the most important role. The state may have a priest as a president or another religious leader acting as god’s representatives. Instead of moving forward this will set America back in time. Like kings in the past who thought to have divine power and right to the thrown. This theocratic government would most likely be a kind of dictatorship. The modern tyrants will not try to get the support of not the poor people like the aristocrats did in the past. But the support of the religious people also known as Christian. These Christian all over America who make a great percentage of the U.S. will be targeted and made to believe that theocracy would be good for everyone through advertisement and media. The government will try to brain wash today’s youth. They will govern to religious laws and take away most of what America is today. If this happens the U.S. will not be so great any more people who came here to escape from their lives of not having any freedom will be returning back home. Theocracy basically comes from the Greek word “Theo” which means God and “Kratein” which means rule.

A few Theocracies have existed in the world today, for example Iran has been a theocracy since 1979. Many of these Theocratic countries have no liberal freedom what so ever because they are taking away our individual rights. If America becomes a theocratic nation they will try to outlaw abortion and gay marriages again this will cause riots and many controversies. These people will feel the government is discriminating on homosexuality because they will again not be able to marry and show their love in public and will not be able to adopt any children. The politician that wants a theocratic government and tries to use this as a method for campaigning strategy will increase their chances of winning the election. All Christian people will want to vote for this candidate. If this politician wins America soon will be a very conservative nation. Next thing you know they will probably censor all television shows that use profane language and these ideas like The Simpson, family guy, Futurerama and American dad this also will include Music Videos. They Might even try to make our music less “demonic” or “sexual”. Probably even ban video games. This will enrage all pre-teens and teenagers but make some parents happy and want to vote for a theocracy.

Me honestly I’m against abortion but that will not stop young girls from getting one. These girls should take responsibility for their mistakes but are naïve, desperate and don’t know better. If abortion is outlawed girls who have become pregnant by rape will have to give birth to a child that they had no intention of having because they cannot get an abortion. Most unwanted pregnancies end in tragedy young girls will try to kill the child but end up hurting themselves during the process. If they decide to have the child because they can’t have the abortion the baby might have a birth defect because of the things the mother used to try to get rid of it. Also these mothers will probably neglect or abuse the child like done in so many cases as seen on the news. More babies are going to be thrown out the windows and found in trash cans they never think about giving the child up to be adopted because they cannot handle the responsibility of having a child. This will most likely over crowd orphanages in America. This is why pregnant girls have the right to choose whether or not they should have an abortion.

What might an American Atheist do if America does become a theocracy?

Well what I think most American atheist will do if America does become a theocratic nation is probably fight for the right to have their liberal freedoms of the first amendment back again. There’s also an organization that defend the civil liberties of atheist people in the U.S. This organization supports the separation of church and state. They will protest and stick to their beliefs. They know government can not abuse its power and interfere with the lives of its citizens. Interfering with something like this so big will cause great problems for the government. Many rebels will probably do crazy things to get the government back to the way it was. Revolutions will happen and all atheist and other religious groups with strong beliefs in their own religion will have an enlightenment. In the United States some might get ideas how to change the government. Atheist have the same right as everyone else to believe in whatever they want but having a theocracy will add them to the list of possible “terrorist” just as they do with other religions. Americans are very gullible and believe what the news tells them without further looking into information. The government will make people who aren’t Christians seem like the enemy.

Why did they separate church and state? What would happen if religion becomes part of public schools?

During the writing of the constitution they came up with the idea of separating the church and state. Some how they knew that separating the church and the state will be good for the government and religion. They did not want the church to become a government but a place to worship God and Jesus. They knew that America was going to be a religiously diverse nation. If the U.S. decides to have a theocracy they will probably bring Christian beliefs into public the school education system which is not fair for students with different religious beliefs. The government should know that public schools are very diverse not only by race but also religion. This will make the religious minorities feel like outcast in schools some of them will be seen as different and as a threat to the other student. Religion should be taught inside a home and church which is a family thing not by schools. Praying is like the most important part of religion. But I don’t think it’s possible to make prayer a routine in school; many students will not want to this because they have other beliefs. This will make less class time to teach a certain subject.
